Wcc Accreditation
Winchester Student Housing Accreditation Scheme is a voluntary scheme aimed at landlords who wish to provide safe, high quality housing for students.
All our properties are fully accredited before we let them.

Living in a safe and well maintained property whilst studying is important, although it is understood that choosing such a property can be problematic.
It is difficult to establish whilst house hunting if a property is safe, suitable for the number of occupants, warm, or expensive to run. Additionally, on signing a contract it is not always clear if the landlord will manage the property responsibly and if he/she is a reputable individual.
This is the benefit of an accreditation scheme. It provides peace of mind that properties are of a satisfactory standard and that landlords are
willing to be accountable for the way in which they run their business.

Council launches scheme aimed at safer student accommodation
- Winchester City Cabinet has approved a scheme which will encourage owners of private student accommodation to register as Council Accredited landlords.
- The voluntary Council Accreditation Scheme, which will also extend to cover landlords of houses in multiple occupation, will see the City Council and the private sector working closer together to provide higher standards of private rented accommodation that are fit and safe for occupation.
- Key features of the scheme include setting fixed standards for property conditions that are supported and checked by accommodation inspections, as well as introducing incentives to local landlords to achieve accreditation status.
- Leader of Winchester City Council, Cllr Sheila Campbell, said; "This is a drive towards achieving higher standards of living in the area and one which we hope will give students greater peace of mind when renting accommodation. We have a lot of students in and around Winchester and it is very important we do all we can to improve their safety, as well as make their experience of living in the area an enjoyable one."
- The scheme will be formally launched this April.
